Abstract
This study aimed to identify the degree to which students in the Higher Diploma Program for Teacher Preparation at Yarmouk University possess professional teacher standards from their perspective. The study tool, after confirming its validity and reliability, was applied to a random sample of 187 students enrolled in the Higher Diploma Program for Teacher Preparation at Yarmouk University during the second semester of the 2022/2023 academic year. The tool consisted of 36 items distributed across three domains: knowledge, practice, and attitude. The study results revealed that the degree to which students in the Higher Diploma Program for Teacher Preparation at Yarmouk University possess professional teacher standards from their perspective was high, with the domains ranked as follows: knowledge, practice, and attitude, with levels of high, high, and moderate, respectively. The results also showed statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the study sample on the practice domain, attributed to the age variable, in favor of those aged 25 to less than 35 years and those aged 35 years and above, compared to those under 25 years. Additionally, a statistically significant difference was found between the mean scores on the items related to the possession of professional teacher standards as a whole, attributed to the variable of funding source, in favor of those with scholarships.
