Abstract

The study aimed to determine the level of superstitious thinking and locus of control among gifted students in the Medina Education Department in Saudi Arabia, and to determine the significance differences in the superstitious thinking according to the variables: locus of control, gender, and class. The study used the descriptive and comparative Causal Method, and the study sample consisted of (193) male and female gifted students in the secondary stage. The study used the superstitious thinking scale (Nassar, 2016), and Rotter's locus of control scale (Rotter, 1966). The results showed that the level of superstitious thinking was at a moderate degree. The results showed that (71.5%) of the study sample had an internal locus of control, and (28.5%) had an external locus of control, and thus the direction of the locus of control was towards the internal locus of control. The results revealed that there were statistically significant differences in the level of superstitious thinking among gifted students according to the locus of control, in favor of the external control center, and the academic grade, in favor of the third-grade secondary, and there were no statistically significant differences due to the gender variable.
