Abstract

The study aimed to reveal the psychological impact of the Corona pandemic and its relationship to eating disorders among Yarmouk University students. The study sample consisted of (1624) male and female students. To achieve the objectives of the study, the Corona pandemic impact scale, anorexia nervosa scale, and bulimia nervosa scale were used. The results showed that the percentage of students with combined eating disorders amounted to (16.44%) of the sample size as a whole. The results indicated that the percentage of students with anorexia nervosa was (43.44%) of the total students with eating disorders, whereas the prevalence of bulimia nervosa was (56.56%) of the total students with eating disorders. The results also showed that the general level of psychological impact of Yarmouk University students was moderate. And differences were found due to the variable type of disorder, in favor of students from the category of anorexia nervosa compared to students from the category of bulimia nervosa. The results showed positive, statistically significant relationships between the psychological impact of the Corona pandemic and each of anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa.  The results also indicated that there was a statistically significant difference between the arithmetic averages of anorexia nervosa due to gender, and in favor of males.
